Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has congratulated Dr. Charles Akinola on his appointment as the Managing Director of the Southwest Development Commission (SWDC), describing it as a significant step toward advancing the region’s socio-economic agenda.

The governor praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment, which he said reflects the President’s commitment to excellence and regional development.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, Governor Abiodun described Dr. Akinola as a seasoned technocrat whose leadership capacity and wealth of experience are set to reposition the Commission for maximum impact.

“Dr. Akinola’s appointment is not only well-deserved but timely,” Abiodun said. “His tenure as Chief of Staff to the former Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, showcased his ability to think strategically and deliver results. This new role is a perfect match for his vision and expertise.”

The governor emphasized that Dr. Akinola brings a deep understanding of the region’s needs, as well as a commitment to transformative development.

“His deep insight into the region’s unique challenges and vast opportunities positions him to lead the Commission effectively in promoting sustainable development, economic advancement, and social transformation,” he noted.

Abiodun also expressed optimism that the Southwest would witness a wave of strategic growth under Akinola’s stewardship.

“We expect to see groundbreaking initiatives that will strengthen infrastructure, attract strategic investments, and elevate the standard of living for our people,” the governor stated.

While commending Tinubu’s leadership, Abiodun added, “President Tinubu has once again shown his dedication to purposeful governance by appointing a man of integrity and capacity. This decision speaks volumes about the administration’s resolve to drive inclusive growth and empower the Southwest to play a leading role in Nigeria’s overall development.”

He concluded by expressing confidence in the new Managing Director’s ability to deliver on the Commission’s mandate.
