The Ogun State House of Assembly has applauded Governor Dapo Abiodun for appointing seasoned and capable individuals to oversee the affairs of the Ogun State House of Assembly Service Commission.

Speaker Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide gave the commendation on Monday when he received members of the newly constituted commission, led by former Speaker Rt. Hon. Suraj Ishola Adekunbi, during a courtesy visit to the Assembly Complex at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

“We commend His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for making informed and credible appointments to the Assembly Service Commission. This shows his dedication to institutional growth and legislative development,” Elemide said.

Accompanied by other lawmakers, the Speaker assured the commission of the Assembly’s readiness to cooperate and support its mission for the betterment of the legislature and the State as a whole.

In his remarks, Rt. Hon. Adekunbi, the new Chairman of the Commission, expressed appreciation to the Assembly for its support during his screening and confirmation.

He called for continued cooperation as the Commission embarks on reforms to enhance legislative service delivery.

“We are grateful for your confidence in us. We assure you of our commitment to improving the welfare of Assembly staff and to advancing the overall efficiency of the Commission’s operations,” Adekunbi stated.

Meanwhile, the Speaker also addressed a group of protesters from Iporo Akinbon Ja Community in Odeda Local Government Area, who had stormed the Assembly to decry alleged land grabbing and threats to life by two individuals identified as Yusuf Akinremi and Biola Bisiriyu.

Elemide urged the residents to formally present their complaints to the appropriate authorities to enable swift legislative and legal intervention.

“Governor Abiodun’s administration has zero-tolerance for land grabbing. Several offenders have been prosecuted in the past, and this case will be no different once we receive formal documentation,” he assured.

The Speaker reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to justice, rule of law, and community protection, adding that the issue would be addressed as soon as the necessary formal procedures were fulfilled.
