Three people have lost their lives in a tragic road accident at the Okaka area of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The crash occurred along the Sani Abacha axis when a truck reportedly lost control and collided with a moving car and a tricycle, popularly known as keke napep.
Eyewitnesses said the truck, believed to be carrying timber, veered off course before hitting the smaller vehicles. The impact left the car and tricycle severely damaged and caused multiple casualties.
Passers-by and local residents rushed the injured to nearby hospitals for emergency care, while the bodies of the deceased were evacuated from the scene.
Traffic along the busy expressway was temporarily disrupted as authorities cleared the wreckage.
Security personnel and traffic officers cordoned off the affected section to ensure safety and prevent further incidents.
Residents described the crash as “shocking,” noting that the area experiences heavy vehicular movement, particularly from trucks transporting goods into the state capital.
Many locals called on relevant agencies to strengthen traffic enforcement and implement stricter safety checks for heavy-duty vehicles.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Musa Muhammad, said he would investigate and provide further details later.
