Popular Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has expressed concerns over the growing trend of women seeing dating and love as a financial transaction rather than an emotional connection.
Egbuson, known for his roles in movies like Elevator Baby and Shanty Town, stated that some women now equate a man’s love with how much he spends on them. This, he argued, has made it easier for wealthy men to engage with multiple women without emotional attachment.
Speaking during an interview with TVC, the actor highlighted how this trend is shaping modern relationships. “The nonchalant attitude of some men is because there are a lot of women accessible to them. You know, once you have money, you have a lot of options. And that is also because a lot of women have monetized dating,” he said.
He further explained that men who have significant financial resources often take advantage of this, leading to a cycle where commitment is devalued. “Some men know that when they spend lavishly on a lady, she would think they are in love with her. But that is not love because he’s a billionaire; he can afford to do the same thing for hundreds of girls,” Egbuson added.
