President Bola Tinubu is set to leave Abuja on Monday for a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye, in a move aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and deepening cooperation in security and other key areas.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the visit in a statement on Sunday.
According to Onanuga, the trip is designed to reinforce the existing friendly ties between Nigeria and Türkiye and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
The state visit also serves as a reciprocal gesture following the earlier visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Nigeria in October 2021.
During the visit, both countries will engage in high-level political and diplomatic discussions, focusing on shared interests in security, trade, investment, education, innovation and aviation.
The agenda will include meetings between senior officials from both nations and the signing of memoranda of understanding covering scientific research, energy, technical cooperation, media and communications, military cooperation and protocol, among other areas.
A business forum is also scheduled to take place, bringing together investors from both countries to explore potential opportunities and partnerships.
Members of President Tinubu’s delegation will include key ministers and security chiefs, such as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi SAN; Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd); National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Mohammed Mohammed.
The President is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the visit.
