President Bola Tinubu has departed Lagos for Europe, continuing his end of year break and ahead of his participation in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit in the United Arab Emirates.
A statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the President left the country on December 28.
According to the statement, Tinubu was invited by the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to take part in the global summit scheduled to hold in Abu Dhabi early in January.
The Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is a weeklong annual event that brings together leaders from government, business and civil society to discuss and shape the future of sustainable development across the world.
The 2026 edition of the summit has the theme, “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” and will focus on connecting ambition with action in areas such as innovation, finance and human capital, while showcasing pathways for global progress.
The statement added that Tinubu is expected to return to the country after the conclusion of the summit.
