Troops of Operation Enduring Peace in Plateau State have neutralised three suspected terrorists and arrested two individuals allegedly involved in setting houses ablaze in separate operations across the state.
The arrests were made in Jos North Local Government Area, where the suspects were said to have disguised as security operatives while carrying out arson attacks in Dutse Uku community.
The Media Information Officer of the task force, Captain Chinonso Oteh, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, noting that the suspects, dressed in black tactical uniforms, were apprehended during a targeted operation following reports of sporadic gunfire in the area.
He said the troops responded to a distress call around 11:45pm and intercepted the suspects who were actively participating in the burning of residential buildings and fomenting violence within the community.
According to him, the two suspects are currently in custody, while two other individuals who sustained gunshot wounds are receiving medical attention.
In a separate operation in Karem, Wase Local Government Area, Oteh said troops disrupted the movement of terrorists, leading to the killing of three insurgents.
He added that the success of the operations was due to the deployment of specialised counter-terrorism troops aimed at strengthening security in troubled areas of the state.
Oteh urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies, assuring that the military remains committed to restoring peace and order across Plateau communities.
