A motorcyclist lost his life on Wednesday after a speeding truck ran into him at the Iyana Ilogbo section of the Lagos Abeokuta Expressway, causing a fatal crash that drew the attention of traffic authorities.
The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency confirmed that the accident occurred around 10 in the morning.
TRACE spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the vehicles involved were a MAN Diesel truck with number plate EPE 513 YJ and a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with number plate WDE 403 VQ.
Akinbiyi explained that the truck driver was moving at high speed when he hit the motorcyclist from behind. The impact, he said, left the rider with no chance of survival.
In his words, “Police investigation shows that excessive speed by the MAN Diesel truck caused the crash. It struck the motorcyclist from the rear and the rider died instantly.”
The body of the deceased has been taken to the Ifo General Hospital morgue, where a doctor certified him dead.
