The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, has arrested a 20-year-old man, Oyeleye Moshood, over an alleged burglary at Al-Lateef Group of Schools in Ifo, Ogun State.
According to a statement issued by the State Commander of the Corps, Cmdr. (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi, Moshood, a resident of Anuoluwapo Street, off Olomu, Ifo, was allegedly involved in stealing and damaging property belonging to the school.
The statement said the Ifo Zonal Command of the Corps received information about the incident from the proprietor of the school, Alhaji Animasaun Jelili.
The proprietor reportedly told the Corps that he received a call from the school’s security guard at about 9:00 p.m. on September 23, 2026, informing him that the school gate had been locked from behind, contrary to the usual practice.
The guard, according to the statement, subsequently attempted to gain access to the school premises but discovered that someone was inside the compound.
The suspected burglar was said to have removed several sliding windows, electrical wires, two ceiling fans and metals from the school before fleeing after hearing footsteps.
However, in the process of escaping, the suspect allegedly left his jalabia at the scene.
The proprietor reportedly told the Corps that the school had experienced several incidents of theft and burglary, adding that such incidents had become more frequent since January 2026.
Following the report, operatives of the So-Safe Corps commenced investigation and reportedly used the clothing recovered from the scene, alongside information gathered from residents in the neighbourhood, to trace the suspect.
The Corps said the suspect, who lived close to the school, attempted to escape when he realised that operatives were closing in on him but was eventually subdued and arrested.
The suspect and the recovered property have since been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Ifo Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and possible legal action.
