The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians against a fraudulent online recruitment notice claiming that the commission has commenced the recruitment and training of ad-hoc staff for the 2027 General Election.
The commission, in a statement issued on Monday, said the notice circulating online directs prospective applicants to a website purportedly created for the recruitment exercise.
INEC, however, disowned the notice and said the website being circulated was not an official recruitment portal of the commission.
According to the electoral body, the public should not click on the link, submit personal information, upload documents or make payments through the platform.
“The attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been drawn to a message circulating online claiming that the Commission is currently recruiting and training ad-hoc staff for the 2027 General Election.
“This information is not from INEC. The website/link being circulated is NOT an official INEC recruitment portal,” the commission said.
INEC urged Nigerians to rely only on its verified communication channels and official website for authentic information on recruitment and election-related activities.
It directed members of the public seeking genuine information to visit its official website, inecnigeria.org.
The commission said it had previously warned Nigerians about fraudulent websites and fake recruitment advertisements purporting to originate from INEC.
It therefore urged the public to disregard the latest notice and refrain from circulating it.
INEC also advised Nigerians to verify the source of online recruitment information before responding to such messages, particularly those requesting personal details, uploaded documents or payment.
“Stay informed. Stay safe. Always verify before you click,” the commission said.
