The All Progressives Congress consensus governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, on Tuesday met with former Nigerian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Sarafa Tunji Ishola, as part of ongoing consultations ahead of the 2027 election.

Adeola, during the visit, stressed the need for unity, reconciliation, and collective responsibility within the party, saying the political process should strengthen cohesion rather than create division among stakeholders.

He commended Ishola for his contributions to the state and the country, noting that his experience and influence remained vital to the success of the party in the forthcoming governorship poll.

“This process should not produce winners and losers. It should bring us together for the common goal of moving Ogun State forward,” Adeola was quoted as saying, as he sought the former envoy’s support.

The lawmaker described his ambition as a collective project and assured that his administration, if elected, would be inclusive and focused on sustainable development across the state.

Other APC leaders present at the meeting, including Senator Lekan Mustapha, Alhaja Salmot Badru, Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, and Hon. Biodun Akinlade, also called for unity among party members, urging stakeholders to close ranks ahead of the election.

Responding, Ishola congratulated Adeola on his emergence as the party’s consensus candidate, while cautioning against allowing political interests to breed resentment within the party.

“Politics is driven by interests, but it must not destroy relationships or create bitterness among us,” he said.

The former diplomat reiterated his commitment to the Yewa Agenda and the broader aspirations of Ogun West, recalling his role as Director-General of the 2011 governorship campaign of the late General Tunji Olurin.

He added that he had consistently advocated stable political transitions in the state, revealing that he had engaged elder statesmen, including Chief Olusegun Osoba, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, and Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on the need to sustain continuity in governance.

Ishola, who noted that he was not part of the recent APC stakeholders’ meeting, described Adeola’s visit as a step towards reconciliation and inclusiveness.

He also disclosed that he had developed a 64-page socio-economic blueprint for Ogun State, expressing readiness to share it with the APC candidate for possible integration into his policy plans.

The meeting featured the presentation of documents detailing Ishola’s profile and contributions to the development of Ogun State.

In separate remarks, party chieftains, including Baba Ajibola and Chief Mrs. Apampa, commended Ishola for his statesmanship and urged continued collaboration among stakeholders for the progress of the state.
