Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed readiness to work closely with leaders of the Arewa community in the state on empowerment initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and strengthening social inclusion.
Abiodun made this known on Wednesday while receiving members of the South West Arewa Community’s Renewed Hope Agenda for Asiwaju 2027, led by its Director-General, Alhaji Shehu Usman, during a courtesy visit to his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The governor said his administration remains committed to supporting programmes that will provide skills and opportunities for members of the community, stressing that empowerment remains key to preventing social vulnerability and negative influence.
He noted that when people are meaningfully engaged, they become more productive and less susceptible to manipulation by undesirable elements.
According to him, “We must ensure that people are given opportunities to learn skills and engage in productive activities. When individuals are idle, they become vulnerable to negative influences.”
Abiodun added that his government would be willing to collaborate with the group in designing practical empowerment schemes tailored to the needs of the Arewa community in Ogun State.
“I am open to working with you to develop programmes that will empower your people. What matters is identifying their strengths and how best they can be engaged for positive impact,” he said.
The governor also commended the leadership of the group for promoting unity and peaceful coexistence between the Arewa community and their host communities in the South West, noting that such efforts help strengthen harmony and mutual understanding.
