The Ogun State House of Assembly on Thursday confirmed the nomination of Mrs Adenike Abosede Osoba Ademokun for appointment as commissioner in the State Executive Council.
The confirmation followed a request forwarded to the Assembly by Governor Dapo Abiodun seeking legislative approval for her appointment.
The approval came after the lawmakers considered and adopted the report of the Committee of the Whole House chaired by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, during plenary at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Presenting the committee’s report, Hon. Babatunde Tella stated that the lawmakers were satisfied with the nominee’s qualifications, experience and performance during the screening exercise.
The lawmakers also urged Ademokun to justify the confidence reposed in her by deploying her wealth of experience to strengthen governance and public administration in the state.
Responding during the screening, the nominee pledged to draw from her previous experience in the state public service, including her recent role as Commissioner in the State Civil Service Commission, to support effective governance and improved service delivery.
The motion for the adoption of the committee’s report was moved by Tella and seconded by Hon. Yusuf Amosun, while the House Leader, Hon. Yusuf Sheriff, moved the motion for the confirmation of the nominee, seconded by Hon. Damilare Bello.
Following the confirmation, the Speaker directed the Clerk and Head of Legislative Service, Mr Sakiru Adebakin, to transmit the House resolution to the governor for further necessary action.
