The Ogun State Police Command has recorded multiple operational successes across the state, leading to the arrest of five suspects, including a father and his son, as well as the recovery of four firearms and a stolen mobile phone.
The Command disclosed that the coordinated intelligence led operations were carried out across Afon, Ilisan Remo and Ode Remo divisions, resulting in the recovery of one locally made pistol, one locally fabricated pistol, two dane guns and one live cartridge, alongside a stolen Tecno Android phone valued at ₦180,000.
In the first incident, operatives of Afon Division arrested Fatai Adegbola and his son, Waliu Adegbola, aged 23, following a report of stealing received on May 22, 2026 at about 7.30pm. The younger Adegbola was alleged to have stolen the Android phone from a residential apartment on May 8, 2026.
Police authorities said acting on credible intelligence, operatives tracked and recovered the stolen phone. A subsequent search of the suspects’ residence, conducted under a duly obtained warrant, led to the discovery of a locally made pistol and a dane gun allegedly concealed within the premises.
The Command said both suspects remain in custody while investigation continues to determine their level of involvement and possible accomplices.
In a separate operation, operatives of Ilisan Remo Division recovered a locally fabricated pistol with one live cartridge during a routine patrol at Ilisan Remo Roundabout on May 27, 2026 at about 7.30am. The firearm was found abandoned and immediately secured by the patrol team. Authorities said efforts are ongoing to trace its origin and ownership.
Similarly, operatives of Ode Remo Division arrested Inioluwa Adesanya, aged 25, in connection with the theft of a dane gun belonging to a resident of the area.
Investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly gained access to the complainant’s residence under the guise of a carpenter’s assistant engaged for renovation work, before making away with the firearm.
The Police Command said all suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations, reaffirming its commitment to sustained intelligence driven operations aimed at curbing crime across Ogun State.
