The Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Solomon Adeola, has expressed deep grief over the death of the All Progressives Congress South-West Zonal Woman Leader, Yetunde Shakirat Adesanya, describing her passing as a colossal loss to the ruling party, Ogun State and the nation.
Adeola’s position was contained in a condolence statement issued on Friday by his Media Adviser, High Chief Kayode Odunaro, following the death of the APC chieftain after a prolonged illness.
Adesanya reportedly died on Thursday evening at her residence in Lagos.
The lawmaker extended his condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, noting that her death came at a time when her wealth of experience, commitment and leadership were still needed by the party and society.
According to him, Adesanya was one of his earliest supporters in Ogun State politics and remained a steadfast party loyalist whose contributions to the growth of the APC and the advancement of women in politics would not be forgotten.
“The death of Arabirin Adesanya is a devastating loss to Ogun State and the APC family, particularly among the womenfolk where she discharged herself honourably,” Adeola said.
He added, “She was a principled, dependable and resourceful woman whose contributions to party development and women’s causes will remain evergreen. Her dedication to the growth of the APC and her passion for empowering women earned her respect across political divides.”
The senator further described the late APC leader as a great mobiliser who devoted her life to strengthening the party and encouraging greater participation of women in governance.
“She stood firmly for the ideals of our party and consistently worked for unity, progress and inclusion. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of working with her,” he stated.
Adeola prayed for the repose of her soul and asked God to grant her family, friends and political associates the strength to bear the loss.
He said, “While we mourn her departure, we must also celebrate a life of service, loyalty and commitment to humanity. May Almighty God grant her eternal rest and comfort all those she left behind.”
