The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Adeola, has expressed grief over the death of the head of his family, Elder Chief Michael Adelani Ogundimu, who died in the early hours of Tuesday at the age of 85 after a brief illness.
This was disclosed in a press statement signed by the senator’s Media Adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, on Tuesday
Ogundimu, the Akinrogun of Pahayi Yewa, Ilaro, and a former councillor representing Ilaro Ward 1 in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State, was the Oloriebi of the Onibata family in Ago Isaga Compound, Pahayi Yewa.
Reacting to the loss, Adeola described the late family patriarch as an irreplaceable repository of the history of the Isaga people and a pillar of support throughout his political journey.
He said, “Baba Ogundimu, famously called ‘Baba Yayi’ over the years, was a great uncle to me. He was full of encouragement for me as a son of the Onibata Family and was ready at all times to narrate the genealogy of the family for many generations of Isaga people.
“I will surely miss his usual wise counsel and encouragement to continue in the noble trajectory of good governance for my people.”
The senator said he received the news of Ogundimu’s passing with shock and profound sadness, noting that his death was a huge loss not only to the family but also to the people of Isaga in Pahayi Yewa, Ilaro.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul and asked God to grant his immediate family the strength to bear what he described as an irreparable loss.
Chief Ogundimu was widely known as “Baba Yayi” and was regarded as a respected community leader and custodian of the history and traditions of the Isaga people.
