Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, have rescued two young Fulani herders who were abducted by suspected kidnappers in a forest along the Ondo and Edo states boundary.
The victims were reportedly grazing cattle in the Owo forest when they were seized by their captors. Their disappearance prompted concern among family members, who alerted the Amotekun Corps after the children failed to return home.
Acting on the report, Amotekun operatives, working with the victims’ parents, launched a search and rescue operation that led them to the kidnappers’ hideout deep inside the forest.
Speaking on the operation, the Commander of the Ondo State Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, said the suspects abandoned the victims and fled after discovering that security operatives had located their camp.
He said the swift intervention ensured the safe rescue of the two herders without any reported injuries.
The latest operation adds to ongoing efforts by the Ondo State Amotekun Corps to tackle kidnapping and other violent crimes, particularly in forest communities and border areas where criminal groups have remained active.
Security authorities have assured residents that operations will continue to rid the forests of criminal elements and improve safety across the state.
