As Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan turned 57, political associates, traditional rulers and community leaders gathered in Ogun State on Monday to celebrate a man they described as a bridge builder whose influence extends beyond partisan politics.

The gathering, held at the Asade Agunloye Royal Pavilion, brought together political leaders, professionals, community stakeholders and supporters who used the occasion to reflect on Adeola’s years in public service, particularly his interventions in empowerment, infrastructure, education, youth development and grassroots engagement.

Although the senator was not physically present at the event, having reportedly travelled to the United States on vacation, despite his absence, the atmosphere at the Asade Agunloye Royal Pavilion remained electric, with guests showering encomiums on the senator and highlighting his contributions to political representation, empowerment and infrastructural development across Ogun State.

The high point of the celebration was the electrifying musical performance by raving Fuji star, King Saheed Osupa, who serenaded the mammoth crowd with his hit songs and Fuji classics, further adding colour and excitement to the birthday festivities.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Birthday Planning Committee, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI), who is also the lawmaker, representing Imeko/Afon federal constituency, described the celebrant as a political pathfinder whose journey in public service had been marked by commitment, loyalty and tangible impact.

Isiaka said the decision by the senator’s friends and associates to organise the celebration in his absence was a demonstration of the depth of their relationship with him and their appreciation of his contributions to society.

According to him, Yayi’s political trajectory has been driven by a determination to make representation meaningful by ensuring that political office translates into tangible benefits for the people.

He described the senator as a pathfinder and bridge builder, noting that his ability to connect with people across political, professional and social divides had remained one of his greatest strengths.

GNI particularly commended Yayi for his aggressive empowerment initiatives, saying the senator had consistently demonstrated that elected representatives could go beyond legislation to directly improve the economic circumstances of their constituents.

Isiaka also highlighted the senator’s interventions in infrastructure, education, youth development, agriculture and support for small businesses, describing them as evidence of a representative who understands the essence of grassroots politics.

Similarly, a close associate to Senator Yayi and the President, Nigerian Institute of Estate Surveyor and Valuers, High Chief Victor Alonge described the celebrant as a dependable friend and political associate who had remained committed to the advancement of his people.

Alonge said Senator Yayi had used his years in public office to establish a reputation for purposeful representation, particularly through his emphasis on empowerment, community development and infrastructure.

He described Yayi as a politician who had successfully combined political sagacity with grassroots engagement, adding that his ability to build bridges across different constituencies had contributed significantly to his growing political influence.

Also speaking, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daisi Elemide, described Senator Yayi as a politician who had redefined the concept of effective representation through visible and measurable interventions.

Elemide said Yayi’s approach to public service had demonstrated that political leadership should be judged not merely by rhetoric but by its impact on the lives and communities of the people.

The Speaker praised the senator’s capacity to build bridges and maintain relationships across different political and social constituencies, describing him as a leader whose political relevance had been strengthened by his accessibility and commitment to the people.

He said Yayi’s numerous empowerment programmes and infrastructural interventions had continued to distinguish him as a representative who understands the expectations of the grassroots.

The Speaker prayed for the senator’s continued good health, wisdom and strength, while expressing optimism that he would continue to make significant contributions to the development of Ogun State.

The Osi Egba of Egbaland, Chief Bode Mustapha, also joined the chorus of commendation, describing Senator Yayi as a grassroots politician whose political career had been built around service, accessibility and empowerment.

Chief Mustapha said Yayi had demonstrated an uncommon understanding of the needs of ordinary people, noting that his interventions had cut across different communities and categories of people.

He described the senator as “a man who understands the language of the people,” stressing that his ability to identify with the aspirations of the grassroots had made his political interventions particularly impactful.

The Osi Egba commended Yayi for deploying his political positions to facilitate empowerment opportunities and infrastructural projects, saying such initiatives had helped demonstrate the practical meaning of democratic representation.

Other speakers who gave their goodwill message noted that his interventions had provided support for farmers, traders, artisans, youths, women and other residents while his infrastructure projects had touched communities across Ogun State.

The birthday celebration was therefore presented not merely as an occasion to mark the senator’s 57th birthday, but as an opportunity for his friends and associates to celebrate what they described as a growing legacy of grassroots representation, empowerment and community development.

The event ended on a high note with continued music, goodwill messages and celebrations, as King Saheed Osupa kept the crowd entertained in an atmosphere that reflected the strong bond between the celebrant and his political friends and associates.
