Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi, on Wednesday arrived at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo for questioning over alleged inciting comments ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
Fadahunsi arrived at about 2:35 p.m., accompanied by the Commissioner of Police in charge of election and security, Samuel Erale, according to Channels Television.
The senator was invited by the police authorities over alleged comments made against members of the Accord Party in Ilesa.
His invitation came amid heightened political tension in the state, with security agencies warning politicians and their supporters against statements capable of threatening peace before, during and after the election.
The police had earlier cautioned political actors against inflammatory remarks that could heighten tension and undermine the peaceful conduct of the poll.
Fadahunsi’s appearance at the command is expected to provide the senator an opportunity to respond to the allegations surrounding his comments.
The development comes as political parties and candidates intensify their final preparations for Saturday’s election, with security agencies maintaining heightened vigilance across the state.
