The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, codenamed So-Safe Corps, has arrested a 29-year-old man, identified as Salaudeen Toheeb, over the alleged rape of a 22-year-old woman in the Olohunda area of Ota, Ogun State.
The suspect was arrested on Saturday, October 3, 2026, following information received by the Divisional Officer of the Alagbon Division, SC Ibrahim Badru, at about 4:00 p.m.
According to the Corps, the woman, identified as Boluwatife, who resides around Baba Oyinbo, Owode-Yewa, was reportedly found in the company of the suspect after her family had raised concerns over her whereabouts.
The State Commander of So-Safe Corps, Commander (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, through the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi, said the Divisional Officer informed the Area Commander, ACC Akeem Saka, who directed that both the suspect and the woman be brought in for questioning.
The Corps said preliminary questioning revealed that Toheeb had encountered the woman while riding his motorcycle the previous evening.
The suspect reportedly told investigators that he approached her and engaged her in conversation, during which she allegedly disclosed that she was distressed and did not know where to go.
He reportedly took her to his residence and bought her food. However, according to the preliminary account, the suspect allegedly attempted to have sexual intercourse with her after she had eaten, but she refused.
He was further alleged to have forced himself on her in the early hours of the following day.
The Corps said the suspect and the woman later went out to charge his mobile phone, where some members of the public recognised the woman and contacted her father, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
However, the woman’s father reportedly requested that the matter be transferred to the Owode-Yewa Divisional Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation.
He also told the Divisional Officer that his daughter had left home with five mobile phones and about ₦17,000, urging investigators to look into the matter as part of the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
The case was subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Owode-Yewa Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and appropriate action.
The State Commander reiterated the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives and property, urging members of the public to promptly report cases involving missing persons, suspected abuse, sexual offences and other criminal activities to security authorities.
