The Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Muhammed Oloyede Gbadamosi, Esuwoye II, has lost his beloved mother, Alhaja Hawawu Awele Gbadamosi, popularly known as Iya Ijebu. She passed away on Saturday evening at the age of 94.
The official announcement was made in a release signed by the Principal Private Secretary to the Olofa of Offa, Idowu Olufemi Israel.
“With total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, the Olofa’s Palace announces the passing unto Aljannah of the beloved mother of Olofa of Offa, Alhaja Hawawu Awele Gbadamosi (Iya Ijebu), aged 94,” the statement read.
Born on January 3, 1931, Alhaja Gbadamosi was a matriarch of honor, remembered for her life of impact, love, and devotion to family and community. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
“She lived a fulfilled and successful life and was a mother figure to many, not just within the royal family, but across Offa and beyond,” the Palace stated.
The Janaza prayer will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025, by 4:00 p.m. at the residence of the Olofa, located on Muu Road, Offa, Kwara State.
The Palace offered prayers for the repose of her soul:
“May Almighty Allah forgive her shortcomings and grant her Aljanat Firdaus. May He grant us all the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
