Access Holdings Plc, the parent company of Access Bank, has reaffirmed its strong financial position ahead of the June 30, 2025 compliance deadline set by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) under its new regulatory forbearance framework.

The bank disclosed that its flagship subsidiary, Access Bank Plc, had already surpassed the ₦500 billion minimum capital requirement for commercial banks with international licenses as of December 31, 2024.

This was announced in a statement titled “RE: Central Bank of Nigeria’s Letter on Temporary Suspension of Dividend Payment, Bonuses, and Investment in Foreign Subsidiaries”, signed by Sunday Ekwochi, Company Secretary of Access Holdings.

“We are pleased to inform our stakeholders that Access Bank has not only complied but has exceeded the new minimum capital threshold set by the CBN,” the statement read.

“As of December 2024, we remain in full compliance with the Single Obligor Limit, and our operational focus remains on maintaining robust capital buffers and delivering long-term shareholder value.”

The CBN’s recent letter, referenced BSD/DIR/COM/LAB/018/008, issued on June 13, 2025, imposed temporary suspensions on dividend payments, bonuses, and certain foreign investments while introducing forbearance measures for Single Obligor Limits and specific credit exposures.

Access Holdings emphasized that it would align fully with the apex bank’s requirements.

“We intend to maintain strict adherence to all regulatory expectations,” the group stated. “While adjusting to these requirements, our focus remains on stability, transparency, and sustainable returns.”

Access Holdings also appreciated its stakeholders for their continued support, stating that its commitment to proactive compliance reflects the group’s operational resilience.

“We value the trust of our shareholders and remain committed to transparency and stability in our governance practices,” the statement added.

The company noted that this disclosure complies with Chapter 17 of the Nigerian Exchange Rulebook 2015, which mandates listed entities to share material information with the public promptly.
