Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has forwarded the 2026–2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) to the Ogun State House of Assembly for legislative approval.
The framework, which outlines the fiscal and budgetary direction of the state for the next three years, is a key component in the state’s annual budget preparation process.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, read the governor’s correspondence during plenary on Friday.
The letter titled “Request for the approval of the 2026–2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) by the State House of Assembly” stated that the request was in accordance with the Ogun State Fiscal Responsibility Law of 2020 (as amended).
According to the letter, the State Executive Council has already considered and endorsed the proposed MTEF, which will serve as a guide for the preparation of the 2026 budget and fiscal projections for 2027 and 2028.
Governor Abiodun explained that the timely approval of the framework would enable the state government to commence the planning and budgetary process for the 2026 fiscal year.
He urged the Assembly to give the document due consideration and approval to ensure alignment between government policies, revenue expectations, and expenditure priorities.
Speaker Elemide thereafter referred the request to the House Committee on Finance and Appropriations for further legislative scrutiny and recommendations.
