The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) winner of the 2025 Anambra Governorship Election, securing his second term in office.
Announcing the result at the State Collation Centre in Awka, the Returning Officer, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, said Soludo polled a total of 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival from the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 97,513 votes.
The Labour Party (LP) candidate came third with 11,204 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) trailed behind with 1,472 votes.
Prof. Omoregie declared Soludo the duly elected governor after collating results from all 21 local government areas of the state.
The announcement, made in the early hours of Sunday, was followed by jubilation among APGA supporters across major towns in Anambra.
Reacting shortly after his declaration, Soludo expressed gratitude to the people of Anambra for renewing their trust in his leadership.
He said, “This victory belongs to Ndi Anambra. It is another call to service and a reminder that governance must continue with greater dedication, transparency, and progress.”
He also appreciated INEC, security agencies, and election observers for what he described as a peaceful and credible process.
“Anambra has once again shown political maturity and commitment to democracy. We will continue to build a state that works for everyone,” Soludo added.
The re-elected governor’s victory consolidates APGA’s stronghold in Anambra politics, as the party has now maintained governance in the state since 2006.
Meanwhile, the APC, LP, and PDP candidates are yet to officially react to the outcome of the election.
INEC sources confirmed that the election was conducted across all polling units in the 21 local government areas with minimal cases of disruptions.
