The Peoples Democratic Party has postponed its inaugural National Working Committee meeting which was earlier scheduled for Tuesday at the party’s national secretariat in Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
The new National Chairman, Dr Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, told journalists at the secretariat that the meeting could no longer hold because of what he described as incidents that threatened the atmosphere around the venue.
He said the decision was taken after he gained entry into the premises and assessed the situation.
Turaki said, “Due to some incidents caused by those who are the enemies of progress, the enemies of democracy, we have decided to postpone this meeting till tomorrow.”
He added that the party would reconvene once calm is fully restored and the environment is safe enough for deliberations.
