Lionel Messi and Inter Miami were left stunned after crashing out of the FIFA Club World Cup following a 4-0 defeat to European champions Paris Saint-Germain. Joao Neves put PSG ahead with a brace, while Desire Doue’s cross resulted in an own goal by Tomas Aviles.
Achraf Hakimi sealed the rout with a fourth goal in added time after his initial effort hit the bar.
Inter Miami showed some improvement in the second half but could not breach the solid PSG defence. Messi had a couple of opportunities but was unable to convert.
PSG now awaits the winner of the Bayern Munich and Flamengo clash in the quarter-finals.
