The Chairman of the Accord Party in Lagos State, Mr Dele Oladeji, has expressed confidence that Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, will deliver the best governance if re elected on the platform of the party in the August 8, 2026 governorship election.

Oladeji made this assertion in a statement issued in Osogbo on Saturday, shortly after Adeleke emerged as the Accord Party’s candidate at the party’s congress held on Thursday.

He described the governor’s emergence as a defining moment for both the party and the people of Osun State.

According to him, the decision of Adeleke to join the Accord Party marked what he called a refining stage in leadership, likening the process to the formation of a fine cut diamond.

He said the convergence of the governor and the party was a response to the yearning of the people for effective and people driven governance.

“Governor Ademola Adeleke, a confirmed socio economic welfarist on a pro people platform, will deliver the best governance that is unprecedented in the last two decades in Osun State.”

“He will also set an enviable governance template that will stand as a reference point for the country,” Oladeji said.

Adeleke recently defected to the Accord Party after resigning his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party earlier in December. The governor had cited unresolved leadership crisis within the PDP as the reason for his exit from the party.

Reacting to his emergence as Accord’s flag bearer, Adeleke said he was prepared to engage his opponents on a campaign anchored on verifiable governance records rather than political rhetoric.

He stated that his campaign would not follow the usual pattern of making promises but would focus on what he described as his three years of governance and measurable achievements across the state.

“My campaign will not be about promises as is common in Nigeria’s political space,” the governor said. “It will be about my record in the last three years and a new level of social and infrastructural development that the people of Osun can see and touch.”

He further disclosed that his campaign period would be marked by a series of project inaugurations across the state, stressing that governance would remain his central message to the electorate.

“I will leave a trail of major and monumental project inaugurations throughout the campaign period,” Adeleke added.

The governor also pointed to what he described as public recognition of his performance, noting that residents of the state had given him various appellations in response to his style of leadership.

“My governance in the past three years has earned me commendable monikers from the people of the state, such as Mr Project, talk and do, the new Awo, and the man of the people,” he said.

Adeleke reiterated that his choice of the Accord Party was based on ideological alignment, saying the party’s people focused philosophy was in sync with his administration’s policies and approach to governance.

“It is a perfect alignment and synchronisation of my people centered policies with the people focused ideology of the Accord Party,” he said. “It is the fission of two pro people entities, and the people of Osun State, as well as the democratic history of the state, will be better for it.”
