The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, has thrown his royal weight behind the Abeokuta Polo Club, assuring the team of close collaboration and unwavering support from the Egba traditional council.

Speaking when he hosted the Ground Breaking Committee of the club at the Ake Palace, Oba Gbadebo commended the initiative, describing it as a perfect fit for his vision of a progressive Egbaland.

Leading the delegation was the President of the Abeokuta Polo Club, Dr. Sheriff Adams Abdulrahman, alongside the Committee Chairman and Orunto of Owu Kingdom, Chief Abiodun Lasile.

Welcoming the team warmly, the monarch expressed delight over the project, emphasizing that the polo club would not only add a new sporting dimension to the ancient city but also serve as a catalyst for its socio-economic development.

“Polo has the potential to bring a fresh wave of tourism and investment into Abeokuta,” the Alake said. “It aligns perfectly with our broader goal of uplifting Ogun State and creating valuable opportunities for our youth.”

He continued, “We are excited about this vision. The Abeokuta Polo Club has our blessing, and we are ready to collaborate and support this noble endeavor in every possible way.”

The committee members, in response, assured the monarch of their commitment to executing the vision with excellence, highlighting that the project would foster joy, unity, and significant economic growth within the community.

Chief Abiodun Lasile, speaking on behalf of the committee, expressed gratitude to His Royal Majesty for the warm reception and his promises of support, stating, “Your encouragement strengthens our resolve to make this project a resounding success for Egbaland.”

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties reaching a strong mutual understanding that signals the beginning of a promising partnership between the Abeokuta Polo Club and the traditional institution of Egbaland.
