Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has emerged Governor of the Year, Public Service Innovation, at the Nigeria eGovernment Excellence Awards 2026, in recognition of his administration’s efforts to deploy technology in transforming public service delivery.
The award, organised by the Nigeria eGovernment Summit, recognised Abiodun’s leadership in implementing technology-driven reforms and e-governance initiatives aimed at modernising public administration, improving service delivery, strengthening transparency and enhancing citizen engagement.
The organisers commended Ogun State’s growing digital penetration and innovation, describing the administration’s technology-driven initiatives as significant steps towards building a more efficient, accessible and citizen-centred public service.
Under Abiodun, the state government has increasingly deployed digital platforms across its operations, using technology to simplify access to public services, streamline administrative processes and improve interaction between government and citizens.
Receiving the award, Abiodun thanked the organisers for the recognition, describing it as an encouragement for his administration to deepen the use of Information and Communication Technology in governance.
The governor said his administration would continue to introduce reforms aimed at improving the quality of life of residents, adding that his commitment to delivering better governance would remain unwavering until the last day of his tenure.
