Arsenal Edge Fulham 1-0 to Reclaim Premier League Top Spot

Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League table on Saturday after grinding out a 1-0 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Leandro Trossard scored the only goal of the match just before the hour mark, converting from close range after a clever flick-on by Gabriel from Bukayo Saka’s corner kick.

The win restored the Gunners to the summit of the league, overtaking Manchester City who had earlier gone top following a 2-0 win over Everton.

Fulham started brightly and looked the more dangerous side in the opening stages, with Harry Wilson and Raul Jimenez combining well in attack.

Wilson came close to finding the net but saw his efforts go narrowly wide, while Riccardo Calafiori’s fine strike on 16 minutes was ruled out for offside.

Arsenal, however, gradually took control as Mikel Arteta’s men settled into their rhythm. New signing Viktor Gyokeres forced Bernd Leno into a fine save midway through the first half, while Saka also tested the former Arsenal goalkeeper with a powerful shot after the break.

It was from one of Saka’s deliveries that the deadlock was finally broken. His precise corner from the right found Gabriel at the near post, whose flick was turned home by Trossard to hand Arsenal a crucial advantage.

Despite late pressure from Fulham, Arsenal held firm to secure all three points and reclaim their place at the top.

Speaking after the game, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised his players for their determination. “We had to dig deep today.”

“Fulham made it tough for us, but the team showed real character and discipline. These are the kind of wins that matter in a title race,” Arteta said.

The victory means Arsenal continue their push for a first Premier League crown since 2003–04, with momentum firmly back in their favour.
