The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Adekimi Ojo, on Wednesday visited Eruku in Ekiti Local Government Area for an urgent on-the-spot assessment following the fresh security incident reported in the community.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.
CP Ojo arrived the town alongside senior officers and was received by the Divisional Police Officer in Eruku and other tactical commanders who briefed him on the situation and ongoing security measures.
The team proceeded to the palace of the Owa of Eruku Land, His Royal Highness, Oba Busari Ayinde Oyediran Olarenwaju, where discussions were held on restoring safety after the attack.
The traditional ruler thanked the Commissioner for the prompt visit and described the incident as “a painful and unfortunate attack on our peaceful community.”
He appealed for additional manpower, saying “my people need more security presence to protect their lives and property.”
According to the statement, the CP also met with community leaders, vigilante heads, and residents to gather firsthand information and reassure them of the Command’s determination to safeguard the town.
“We will not relent. We are committed to protecting every resident and ensuring safety returns to this community,” he said.
The security team later visited the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke-Isegun, where the incident occurred.
The resident pastor, Mr Bamidele, gave a short account of what happened and led officials around the affected areas.
SP Ejire-Adeyemi added that CP Ojo has ordered a strategic review of deployments to enable the rescue of the victims, arrest of the perpetrators, and restoration of confidence across the community.
She noted that “further updates will be provided as operations continue.”
