The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, has pledged to communicate the request of the National Association of Caterers to the appropriate arms of government for consideration in the upcoming Gateway Games.

Rt. Hon. Elemide gave the assurance on Thursday when he received a delegation of the association, led by its National President, Mrs. Francisca Ojo, at the Assembly Complex in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

He described the Dapo Abiodun-led administration as one that listens to its people, assuring that the government would give due attention to the association’s appeal.

“We are aware of your contribution in past national events across the country,” Elemide stated. “This administration is responsive and will not overlook any genuine request from stakeholders. Your plea will be duly communicated to the appropriate quarters.”

While emphasizing the legislature’s primary duties of lawmaking and oversight, the Speaker reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to engaging with citizens and advocating on their behalf.

“Our role may be legislative, but we are also the voice of the people. We will ensure your concerns are heard,” he said.

Earlier, the National President of the association, Mrs. Francisca Ojo, urged the Speaker to support the inclusion of their members in the catering services for the Gateway Games, citing their past involvement in similar events nationwide.

“Our members have consistently served in sporting events across the country. We are seeking your intervention to ensure we are not sidelined in the Gateway Games,” Mrs. Ojo appealed.
