Ibadan – A female teacher in one of the international schools in Ibadan, Oyo State, identified only as Folakemi, was on Tuesday kidnapped by gunmen at Oshin area, along Adebajo Street, New Bodija, Ibadan.

According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the victim, who resides in the Akobo area, was traveling in her Toyota RAV4 to school when she was intercepted by a Toyota Highlander SUV carrying three armed men, one of whom was masked. Another report indicated that she was on her way to a church programme.

“The masked gunman forced the victim out of her vehicle and abducted her, while leaving behind another female occupant. They also took the victim’s personal belongings, including phones,” DSP Ayanlade said.

Residents who witnessed the scene reported seeing a police team arrive shortly after, recovering the victim’s vehicle with the driver’s door hanging open.

DSP Ayanlade confirmed that the Command has activated its intelligence units to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted woman.

He added that the police are collaborating with local security stakeholders, and investigations have commenced to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

He urged residents to remain calm and provide any information that could aid the investigation at the nearest police station, assuring that all necessary measures are being taken to resolve the situation.
