The Chairman, Senate committee on appropriations and Senator representing Ogun West senatorial district, Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi has disclosed that, although, internal and external factors may have conspired against previous candidates of Ogun West from emerging governor, noting that singular fixated reliance on the goodwill of other senatorial zones would not actualize their governorship ambition.

He said the inability of the Yewa/Awori region to produce governor of Ogun State since the creation of the state in 1976 has been described as unjust, inequitable, and gross political injustice.

Senator Yayi disclosed this on Wednesday at the grand finale of his seven-day mega empowerment and town hall meeting and commissioning of Yewa Unity House held at the Asade Agunloye pavilion, Ilaro, Ogun state.

He explained that he delved into the political equation in Ogun state to salvage the relegation of Ogun West in the scheme of things since the creation of the state in 1976.

He called on the people of Yewa/Awori to collectively join hands with the support from other fair-minded people across the state to ensure their governorship dream becomes a reality.

“Last year, I delved into the issue of political power equation in Ogun state and the relegation of our senatorial zones in the scheme of things since the creation of Ogun State on 3rd February, 1976. In the over 49 years history of Ogun State, no one from our senatorial district has been opportune to lead our dear state as number one citizen.

“You will agree with me that this is an unjust and unequitable anomaly. It is also crystal clear that this anomaly is not as a result of not representing ourselves for service or indeed a result of lack of eminently qualified persons.

“Opinion differs on why we are at this anomalous situation of gross political injustice against our people in Ogun State. While I agree that internal and external factors may have conspired against our brothers and sisters that nursed the ambition and contested to lead our dear state in time past without success, it is nonetheless a political truism that political power is not serve “a la carte” and singular and fixated reliance on the goodwill of some of our brothers in other senatorial zones to actualize our dream will not get us to where we want to be.

“We must collectively contest for power with everything that God Almighty have endowed us with in addition to support from some of our fair minded and just brothers and sisters across the state.”

He, however, said he had constructed 34 roads in Ilaro while 8 other roads construction are ongoing.

In his goodwill message, a member of the National Working Committee (NWC), All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Tolu Bankole said the massive empowerment embarked upon by Senator Adeola Yayi has made the 2027 governorship election a walk over.
