The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has ruled out any increase in the cost of application forms for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry, assuring candidates and parents that registration fees will remain unchanged.

The Board made this known in its Weekly Bulletin obtained on Monday in Abuja, as it disclosed that preparations have been concluded to commence the 2026 UTME and DE registration soon.

JAMB said it has not increased the cost of UTME or DE application documents in the last nine years. Instead, it noted that registration fees have been reduced under the current administration, despite prevailing economic challenges.

According to the Board, any consideration to review fees in the future would only arise if it becomes absolutely necessary to sustain the integrity and quality of the examination process.

It explained that the decision aligns with the directive of the President, conveyed through the Minister of Education, that the Board’s operations must reflect human-face policies while taking into account the economic realities confronting Nigerian families.

JAMB said the clarification was necessary to guide parents and guardians planning ahead for their children’s education, stressing that the cost implication for the 2026 exercise remains largely the same as that of the previous year.

The Board urged parents and guardians to ensure early registration of their wards once the process begins, warning that there will be no extension of the registration period.

It added that despite the reduction in fees over the years, the Board has continued to operate prudently and efficiently, recording substantial remittances to the Federal Government.
JAMB reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, transparency, affordability, and global best practices in the conduct of its examinations.

Meanwhile, prospective candidates have been advised to create their JAMB profiles if they have not done so, after confirming that their National Identification Number details are accurate.

The Board warned that incorrect NIN information could lead to challenges during registration and examination, adding that opportunities for correction of candidates’ data are increasingly limited.

It therefore urged candidates to take responsibility for the accuracy of their personal details to ensure a smooth and hitch-free 2026 UTME and DE registration exercise.
