As the curtain falls on the 2024 edition of the Gateway Games, excitement is reaching its peak with legendary Fuji icon, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1 De Ultimate), confirmed to perform live at the grand closing ceremony today in Abeokuta.

The event, which will be held at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, promises to deliver a dazzling night of music, culture, and celebration to mark the conclusion of the prestigious multi-sport event that has captivated audiences nationwide.

Joining K1 De Ultimate on stage are other high-profile performers, setting the stage for an electrifying finale to one of Nigeria’s most successful sports festivals in recent years.

“We’re ending the 2024 Gateway Games on a high note with world-class entertainment. It’s a moment to celebrate our athletes and showcase Ogun State’s vibrant culture,” one of the organisers said ahead of the ceremony.

The Gateway Games, which brought together athletes from across Nigeria and neighbouring countries, have been widely praised for promoting youth engagement, unity, and grassroots sports development.

“This year’s edition has surpassed our expectations. The level of competition, sportsmanship, and talent we’ve seen is extraordinary. Ogun State has once again proven itself as a hub for sporting excellence,” a sports official noted.

The closing ceremony will not only honour the outstanding achievements of athletes but also reflect the cultural richness of Ogun State, with traditional displays expected to be part of the night’s highlights.

“It’s not just about sports; it’s about the unity and cultural pride of our people. The Gateway Games have brought that to life over the past several days,” said a cultural coordinator involved in the planning.

Organisers say the Gateway Games have become a flagship event for sports tourism and talent discovery, with plans already underway to make the next edition even bigger.

“We are setting a standard here in Ogun. The Gateway Games is not just a competition—it’s a movement,” the official added.
