The Lagos State House of Assembly has ratified a fresh list of nominees submitted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for various strategic positions across the state’s commissions and agencies, further consolidating the administration’s drive for effective governance.

The approval was granted during Thursday’s plenary session, which was presided over by Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.

The clearance followed recommendations from the House Ad hoc Committee on Screening of Nominees, led by Hon. Mojeed Fatai Adebola of Ibeju-Lekki I.

“After a thorough and fair assessment, these individuals have demonstrated competence and capacity to deliver on their mandates,” Hon. Mojeed said while presenting the report.

Among those confirmed is Prince Adewale Taorid Ojora as a member of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).

For the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission, Engr. Abimbola Odubiyi was confirmed as the Chairman (Non-Executive), with Mr. Tunde Gbajumo also cleared as a Non-Executive Member.

Others include Animashaun Fouad Olayinka as the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Member, Barrister Kofo Olokun as Executive Member, and Oluwaseun A. Fadare, also as Executive Member.

The Assembly also approved the appointment of Mrs. Dapo-Thomas Bolade, Mr. Fatai Olalekan Lasisi, Mr. Afolabi Olatunji Sobowale, Mr. Rufus Adekoya Adedapo, and Mr. Lateef Yahaya as members of the Lagos State Civil Service Commission.

In the Office of the Public Defender (OPD) Governing Council, Mr. Jide Badmos and Ms. Yinka Shitta-Bey were reappointed for another four-year term each.

Speaking after the confirmation, Speaker Obasa emphasized the House’s commitment to checks and balances and its support for merit-based governance.

“We remain devoted to ensuring that appointments into public offices are driven by integrity and a readiness to serve.”

“These approvals reflect our trust in the governor’s choices and our dedication to institutional development,” Obasa noted.

The Assembly said the confirmations were in alignment with the state’s ongoing reforms and the administration’s broader vision for inclusive and transparent governance.

“These are not just appointments; they are key steps towards strengthening institutions and delivering quality service to the people of Lagos,” a statement from the Assembly read.
