The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, also known as So-Safe Corps, has arrested a 45-year-old man, identified as Mr. Diya Agboola, for allegedly raping a woman with Down syndrome in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.
This was contained in a statement issued by the State Commander of the Corps, Commander Soji Ganzallo, and made available to journalists by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander of Corps, Adegunwa Adegbuyi.
According to the statement, the arrest was made on October 27, 2025, when the Corps’ surveillance team from the Oke-Paata Division, led by the Divisional Officer, SC Ikusegbagbe Abayomi, was on a special patrol along Ososun town around 12 noon.
The officers reportedly observed the suspect and the 30-year-old victim (name withheld) arguing as they emerged from an uncompleted building, which prompted the team to intervene immediately.
Ganzallo explained that upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime. He said, “During preliminary questioning, the suspect, who lives at Ilupeju Elepo, Oja, Lagos State, admitted that he raped the victim after visiting a friend at Agbejise, Ososun.”
He added that the victim narrated her ordeal, stating that the suspect forcefully attacked her. “The victim, who is a person living with Down syndrome, said the suspect pulled off her underwear and punched her while committing the act,” the statement revealed.
To verify the claims, Ganzallo said the victim was taken to a nearby hospital for medical examination, where the report confirmed that she was indeed sexually assaulted.
The So-Safe Commander further disclosed that the suspect had been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution.
“We have transferred both the suspect and the victim to the Ifo Divisional Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force to continue with the investigation and ensure that justice is served,” Ganzallo said.
He assured the public of the Corps’ continued commitment to protecting lives and ensuring safety in all communities across Ogun State.
