The Paramount Ruler of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has said there was no bandit attack along the Iwo-Osogbo road, contrary to claims that circulated on Thursday.
He insisted the public should disregard the report, describing it as an attempt to mislead residents and create unnecessary fear.
Oba Akanbi threw an open challenge to anyone who claimed an attack took place to bring proof.
He maintained that the popular route remained safe and that Osun State continued to enjoy what he called its long-standing record of peace.
“The report of the bandit attack along Iwo-Osogbo road yesterday was not true. It was a blatant lie confabulated to discredit the route. Osun State remains a peaceful state”, he said.
He added that Osun’s reputation for calm had not changed. “The historical harmony of Osun is strong. Osun is the most peaceful state. No fake news should be allowed to fly. There was no bandit attack along Iwo-Osogbo road yesterday. I challenge anyone with evidence of an attack to present it. Be assured, Iwo is secured under my reign. If there is any attack, I will be there myself to defend my people”.
The traditional ruler appealed to residents to stay vigilant and continue supporting security agencies in their efforts to safeguard lives and property across the state.
