Kano State Police Command has scored a major success in its fight against crime with the arrest of a suspected drug dealer and five alleged thugs in Kano metropolis.
The suspects were apprehended on January 10, 2026, during an operation carried out by officers of the Jaoji Police Division. Hafizu Ali, 25, a resident of Jaoji Quarters, Kano, described by police as a notorious drug dealer, was among those arrested, along with five others believed to be remnants of criminal gangs.
Authorities recovered a significant cache of illicit substances and dangerous weapons. From Ali, police seized 2,070 capsules of suspected Pregabalin and 23 parcels of suspected Cannabis Sativa. The suspected thugs were found with four knives, two scissors, and an axe.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, following directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to intensify measures against criminal networks and enhance public safety.
CP Bakori commended the officers for their dedication and professionalism and expressed gratitude to Kano residents for their continued support in the fight against crime.
Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon completion.
The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly to the nearest police station.
