The Ogun State Government has strongly condemned the unruly conduct of controversial hip-hop artiste, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, over his aggressive confrontation with officials of the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA) at his bar in the Iyana Ilogbo area of Ota.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, the government described Portable as a “serial dissident and unrepentant rascal” who has consistently assaulted government officials without provocation.

Akinmade decried the latest attack on OGPDPA officials, who were lawfully discharging their duties, as “barbaric and unacceptable,” stressing that such actions would not go unpunished.

He emphasized that the state government is committed to maintaining law and order and will invoke the full weight of the law against any act of recklessness.

“The behavior of the hip-hop artiste is becoming disgraceful and intolerable, both to the people of the area and the government,” Akinmade stated.

“His repeated acts of lawlessness cause unnecessary panic and disorder, which is unacceptable in a civilized society.”

He reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration to upholding decency and instilling the Omoluabi ethos across all sectors of the state.

“We are profoundly taken aback by the unpleasant and uncivil act of Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, on Wednesday at Iyana Ilogbo, where his bar is located,” Akinmade said.

“The way in which Portable and a group of miscreants under his influence attacked OGPDPA officials is not only bizarre but a clear indication of the erosion of Omoluabi values. It is, indeed, a disgrace to the state,” he added.

Governor Abiodun, according to Akinmade, has outrightly condemned the “primitive and indecent act” and reiterated his administration’s stance on upholding justice and equality.

“The Governor totally condemns this act and remains committed to a just and egalitarian society,” Akinmade stated. “Anyone who flouts the law, regardless of their social status or influence, will face the full wrath of the law.”
