Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to transform the state into Nigeria’s foremost transportation and logistics hub through massive infrastructural development and strategic partnerships.

Speaking at the Town Hall Meeting on the preparation of the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the 2026 Budget for the Remo Division, held at the Remo Royal Event Centre, Akarigbo Palace, Ita-Oba, Sagamu, Abiodun said Ogun is strategically positioning itself to serve as the nation’s transportation nerve centre.

Represented by the Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, the Governor said the state government has committed 130 hectares of land for the construction of an Inland Dry Port.

According to him, the project is designed to link the Lekki Deep Sea Port and the Kajola Dry Port, creating an integrated transportation corridor that would enhance trade, logistics, and economic growth.

Abiodun explained that the initiative complements the Gateway International Airport project, which recently commenced commercial operations. He described the development as a “significant milestone” that will accelerate industrialization, create jobs, and reinforce Ogun’s position as a major economic hub in Nigeria.

“These projects will open new frontiers for seamless travel, enhance connectivity, and boost economic activities across the state and beyond,” he stated.

The Governor further highlighted his administration’s achievements in other key sectors such as road construction, healthcare, education, and housing, noting that these efforts reflect his government’s commitment to inclusive growth and development.

In his address, the Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, said the meeting provided an opportunity for citizens to participate actively in the budget formulation process.

He added that the forum promotes transparency, accountability, and people-oriented governance.

“We want every citizen to see themselves as partners in governance. Their contributions are vital to achieving sustainable development across Ogun State,” Olabimtan said.

In his remarks, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, commended Governor Abiodun for his visionary leadership and people-centered policies.

He expressed pride in the Governor’s developmental achievements, especially the successful completion of the Gateway International Airport project, which he said had placed Ogun on the map as a centre of economic growth and investment.

“We are proud of the Governor’s achievements. His dedication to the growth and progress of our dear state is evident in the projects being executed across all regions,” the monarch said.
