The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspects in Mowe over alleged conspiracy and unlawful possession of a human skull.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Babaseyi Oluseyi, who disclosed that the suspects were apprehended on January 8, 2026.
“The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspects in Mowe for conspiracy and unlawful possession of a human skull on January 8, 2026,” Oluseyi said.
According to him, the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for detailed investigation.
“The suspects have been transferred to SCIID, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation,” the police spokesperson added.
A trader in the area where the suspects were arrested, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told journalists that residents were shocked by the development.
“They perpetrated the crime elsewhere, I believe, but were traced to the area where they live,” the trader said.
The police said investigations were ongoing to determine the source of the human skull and establish the level of involvement of each suspect in the alleged offence.
The Command recalled that in August 2025, it commenced the prosecution of two men, Kadir Owolabi and Jamiu Yisa, who were arrested with three human skulls in the Ijebu area of the state.
Owolabi was intercepted while riding a motorcycle along the Ijebu Ode Ibadan Expressway at the Refugees Camp Junction, Oru Ijebu, while preliminary investigation later led detectives to arrest 53 year old Yisa behind the Ijebu Ode Local Government Secretariat.
The Ogun State Police Command assured residents that it would continue to clamp down on all forms of criminal activities across the state.
