The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, has called on the Organic Farming Revival Foundation to deepen its engagement with government agencies and relevant stakeholders to advance the campaign for organic farming across the state.

Elemide gave the charge when he received the leadership of the foundation, led by its National President, Mr. Stephen Oladipupo, during a courtesy visit to the Assembly Complex at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The Speaker, who was joined by his Deputy, Hon. Bolanle Lateefat Ajayi, described organic farming as a valuable return to age-old agricultural wisdom that promotes safer and more sustainable food production. He stressed the importance of reaching more farmers to reorient and educate them about the long-term health and economic advantages of organic practices.

“There’s a need for farmers to embrace this cleaner and healthier approach to farming. I urge the foundation to intensify advocacy, especially through collaboration with MDAs and agricultural cooperatives. The Assembly will give all necessary support to achieve this,” Elemide stated.

Earlier, the National President of the Foundation, Mr. Stephen Oladipupo, alongside a team member, Mr. Saka Adesoji, explained that the organization was committed to promoting organic farming as a safer alternative to conventional farming that relies on synthetic chemicals.

“Organic farming is not just an alternative; it is the safest and most hygienic method. It avoids synthetic pesticides and herbicides, which are harmful to human health and the environment,” Oladipupo emphasized.

He added that organic agriculture protects both consumers and farmworkers from prolonged exposure to toxic substances and helps build a more resilient and eco-friendly food system.

The foundation appealed for legislative backing and institutional support to further sensitize the public and encourage the adoption of organic practices that promote personal and public health in the long run.
