As part of efforts to position Ogun State as a premier destination for culture, tourism, and entertainment, Governor Dapo Abiodun has announced a strategic partnership with Terra Kulture to establish a film and entertainment village in the state.

Speaking while hosting the Chief Executive Officer of Terra Kulture, Bolanle Austen Peters, at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun described the initiative as a major step in preserving and celebrating the legacies of icons who have contributed immensely to the arts.

“From the onset of our administration, we always wanted to have some sort of creative arts and entertainment zone,” the governor said. “But we had to first prioritize the welfare of the people. Now, with stable footing, our focus has shifted to culture, music, and entertainment.”

Abiodun expressed his administration’s commitment to investing in the project and revealed a timeline for commencement:
“We are in April, and I want to see the first phase of this project begin to evolve in the next 60 days so we can perform a groundbreaking ceremony. We would be very happy to invest in it alongside you,” he said. “We will also entrust the running and operations to Terra Kulture.”

He further disclosed that the state is actively renovating major heritage sites in preparation for the National Sports Festival, which will be hosted in May and is expected to attract between 12,000 and 15,000 guests.

“Our heritage sites are getting a facelift,” he said. “We are restoring the homes of Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s mother, Chief MKO Abiola, and the house where the Queen of England was received. All of them will be painted in vibrant colours to reflect their historic significance.”

Governor Abiodun also hinted at the establishment of a Hall of Fame to immortalize notable figures from Ogun State, saying it will “tell the stories of our stars to the younger generations.”

In her remarks, Bolanle Austen Peters, founder of Terra Kulture, praised the state’s rich cultural history and said the project aims to create a world-class destination for tourism and learning.

“Ogun State is the birthplace of so many heroes—Fela, Wole Soyinka, and others,” she said. “We want to create a home where people, especially students, can come to learn about these legends. We’re building a cultural ecosystem with studios, performance venues, classrooms, and more.”

She emphasized that the film village would attract local and international filmmakers, contribute to education, and boost economic activities in the state.
“Students will be able to participate in hands-on training, watch content being created, and engage with industry professionals. There’ll be restaurants, ticketing, and accommodations—all contributing to wealth creation.”

Peters added that while Terra Kulture would manage the operations, “this is an Ogun State project; we are just partners.”
