Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has revealed that the state’s iconic tourist attraction, Olumo Rock in Abeokuta, now generates about N20 million every week following its renovation, compared to the same amount it used to make in an entire year.

The governor disclosed this on Thursday when he received representatives of Mac Group, Fayad Fayad, Strategic Advisor, and Hassan Fayad, Public Relations and Communication Officer, who paid him a courtesy call at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

According to Abiodun, the feat demonstrates how tourism can serve as an alternative source of revenue and relaxation if properly maintained. “I was amazed at the number of people visiting Olumo Rock after its renovation. It shows that if tourist sites are functional, they will not only serve as a relaxation spot but also generate substantial revenue,” he said.

The governor further stated that Ogun’s economy had quadrupled in the last six years, rising from N3.5 trillion in 2019 to N16 trillion in 2025. He added that the state remains one of the two best-performing in the country, with improvements in infrastructure, basic amenities, and tourism development.

While commending Mac Group for choosing Ogun as a hub for its investments, Abiodun stressed that the state’s land mass, infrastructure, human capital, and business-friendly policies make it the best destination for hospitality and leisure projects.

Responding, the Strategic Adviser, Fayad Fayad, announced that the group is investing between $1.8 billion and $2.5 billion in Ogun, focusing on hospitality, tourism, and entertainment. He disclosed that part of the plan is to build the first Disneyland-style resort in Africa within the state.

“This project will feature parks, hotels, entertainment centers, and water parks. We are proud to initiate it here in Ogun, and very soon, the public will hear great news,” Fayad said.
