IBADAN – The Teacher’s Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) professional examination, currently ongoing at Livingstone College, Akobo, Ibadan, has been thrown into disarray as over 2,000 candidates face severe challenges due to inadequate computer facilities.
Less than 10 functional computers are reportedly available at the center, leaving thousands of eligible candidates unable to write their exams.
Candidates came from various parts of Oyo State, including Oyo town, Igboora, and surrounding areas, only to encounter technical setbacks.
Miss Folake Adeyemi*, one of the affected candidates, said, “We traveled long distances from our towns to write this exam, but the situation here is frustrating. With less than 10 computers, it is impossible for all of us to take the exam as scheduled. TRCN needs to act quickly to resolve this.”
Another candidate, Mr. Adebayo Olumide*, added, “We are calling on the organizers to reschedule the exams and spread them across other centers in Oyo State, not just Ibadan. This will give everyone a fair chance to participate and avoid unnecessary stress.”
Several other candidates, who preferred to remain anonymous, also voiced their frustration. One said, “It’s disappointing that after planning and traveling long distances, we are met with this chaos. How can less than 10 computers serve over 2,000 candidates?”
Another anonymous candidate lamented, “Some of us came from remote towns like Igboora and Oyo, spending money on transport and accommodation, only to be turned away because the facility cannot accommodate us. It feels like our efforts and time don’t matter.”
The candidates alleged that the current facility cannot accommodate the sheer number of examinees, describing the setup as “grossly inadequate.”
They urged TRCN authorities to provide a lasting solution to ensure smooth conduct of the professional examination.
Efforts to reach TRCN officials for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
