The self-acclaimed Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, has pledged to submit documents in his possession to security agencies as investigations into the controversial council gather momentum.
Adeyemi made the disclosure during an Instagram interview with social media personality VeryDarkMan, hours after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the activities of the purported agency and submit its findings within 30 days.
According to him, he is prepared to cooperate fully with the investigation and provide every document in his possession to assist security agencies in establishing the true circumstances surrounding the council.
“I am willing and ready to help security agencies or any panel set up by Mr President to unravel the truth. In fact, any moment from now, I will go to the DSS or the police to submit all the documents I have to help them investigate and look into this matter,” he said.
Adeyemi maintained that the documents should be subjected to forensic verification, insisting that investigators should determine their authenticity and establish how the council emerged in official government records.
Questioning the Presidency’s position that the PFIPC does not exist, he expressed surprise that the council appeared in the 2026 national budget despite the government’s denial.
“When the Presidency, through the Chief of Staff, said the agency does not exist, I wondered how an agency that found its way into the national budget could suddenly be described as fake,” he stated.
He further argued that he could not have influenced the budget process because he was in detention while preparations were underway.
“I was in detention for 23 days during the period the budget was being prepared. I did not prepare or defend any budget, and nobody went to defend it on my behalf. That is why I am confused about how the agency found its way into the national budget,” he added.
Responding to allegations involving the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, Adeyemi declined to make further accusations, saying only an independent investigation could establish the facts.
“I wouldn’t say he’s lying, and I wouldn’t say he’s telling the truth. That is why I requested that Mr President set up an investigative panel to unravel the truth, so we will know those involved,” he said.
Adeyemi also claimed he survived an attack by gunmen near Zuma Rock in September 2025 and insisted that his involvement with the council was driven by a desire to attract foreign investment into Nigeria.
“It is all about passion for the country. That agency is to bring foreign investors to Nigeria and make Nigeria a preferred destination for investment,” he said.
The Presidency has consistently maintained that the Federal Government neither created nor recognised the PFIPC. President Tinubu has directed the ICPC to investigate the alleged use of forged appointment letters and official government documents linked to the council, including claims relating to visa facilitation, diplomatic engagements and the operation of bank accounts in the names of non-existent government agencies.
Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, who represents Adeyemi, has also called for a comprehensive investigation into how the council appeared in the national budget despite questions surrounding its legal status.
