The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested two brothers and another accomplice over the killing of an Abuja based legal practitioner, Princess Chigbo, in a one chance robbery operation along the Kubwa Expressway.

The arrest was disclosed in a statement on Sunday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, who said the breakthrough followed a directive by the Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, to track down those responsible for the crime.

According to the police spokesperson, operatives of the command’s Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor Ogbeide Godfrey, used digital intelligence to trace the victim’s mobile phone, leading to coordinated operations between January 5 and 10, 2026, across Dei-Dei, Dakwa and Dan-Tata communities in Kubwa.

Adeh identified the suspects as Saifullahi Yusuf, 22, Ishau Yusuf, 24, and Minka’ilu Jibril, also known as Dan Hajia. She said Saifullahi and Ishau are biological brothers and residents of Dan-Tata community in Dei-Dei, Abuja.

“The FCT Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its sustained fight against violent crime with the arrest of three notorious armed robbery suspects involved in one chance criminal operations and the gruesome murder of a legal practitioner, Chigbo Princess,” the statement read.

She explained that investigations revealed the suspects had been operating as part of a notorious one chance syndicate within the FCT for several years, especially during festive periods.

Adeh said findings showed that on January 5, 2026, at about 5.50 pm, the deceased unknowingly boarded a black Volkswagen Golf 3 vehicle along the Kubwa Expressway, not knowing the occupants were criminals.

“Upon entering the vehicle, the suspects wound up the tinted windows and threatened the victim with weapons, demanding money for her release. When she allegedly refused to cooperate, she was physically assaulted and pushed out of the moving vehicle along the Kubwa Expressway, resulting in her death,” she said.

The police spokesperson added that the suspects dispossessed the victim of her Android mobile phone, which was later sold in Dei-Dei for the sum of ₦120,000.

She stated that from the proceeds, Minka’ilu Jibril allegedly received ₦30,000, Saifullahi Yusuf ₦15,000, while Ishau Yusuf and another suspect currently at large, identified as Musa, shared the remaining amount.

Items recovered from the suspects include five scissors, two dagger knives, two other knives, a long chain and a plier.

The body of Princess Chigbo was earlier discovered along the Kubwa Expressway, with her handbag containing her identity card and other personal belongings found a few metres away. Documents recovered suggested she was a staff member of the FCT High Court.

Adeh confirmed that investigations are ongoing, while efforts are being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspect and bring all those involved to justice.
