The Sole Administrator of Ahoada-East Local Government Area in Rivers State, Goodluck Iheamnacho, has tendered his resignation just 10 weeks after his appointment.
Iheamnacho, who was among the 23 local government administrators appointed by the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd.), on April 9, 2025, officially assumed office on April 11, following his swearing-in alongside others.
In a resignation letter dated June 20, 2025, and addressed to Admiral Ibas, Iheamnacho stated that his decision to step down was driven by a personal choice to return to the private sector.
“Sequel to the above subject matter; I humbly write to your noble office to convey to you my resignation as the Administrator of Ahoada-East LGA,” the letter read.
“My decision is informed by my desire to return back to the private sector.”
He went on to express appreciation to the state government and the people of Ahoada-East for the opportunity to serve, saying:
“My sincere gratitude goes to the government of Rivers State and the good people of Ahoada-East for finding me worthy to serve as Administrator of Ahoada-East LGA from April 11, 2025 to June 20, 2025.”
Iheamnacho’s exit comes amid ongoing political and administrative developments in the state, where local government administration has been under close scrutiny following the appointment of sole administrators across all 23 councils.
